Carolyn Kalil, best selling author of
Follow Your True Colors To The
Work You Love, has created a more contemporary version of temperament
types in her latest book Follow
Your Inner Heroes To The Work You
Love. Carolyn is internationally known for her uplifting message that
has inspired readers and audiences to be their best self and do what they
love for over 20 years. She believes that each of us has a special purpose
and unique gifts and talents to make a difference in the world. Her
passion is helping others discover their authentic self so that they can
become the hero of their own life.
Counselor &
Educator
In her career as a College Counselor in Southern
California for over 30 years and Director of the Career Center,
Carolyn was one of the first to integrate temperament theory into the
career development process. She wrote a workbook for her college students
in 1989 called How to Express Your
Natural Skills and Talent In A
Career, and it was quickly adopted by other colleges. Over the years,
Carolyn collected enough empirical research to author her book Follow Your
True Colors To The Work You Love in 1998.
Although this book used a derivative of David
Keirsey's temperament theory, known as True Colors by Don Lowry, Carolyn
sought to create a simpler, more direct temperament model in her latest
book Follow Your Inner Heroes To The work You Love. Today,
millions have taken Carolyn's online assessment.
Beyond The
Educational Realm
Fortune 500 companies like
Google, Cisco Systems and Warner Brothers have used Carolyn's books in managerial
trainings and team building. Some organizations use it with parents to
improve relationships with their children while therapists use it to help
couples understand their individual differences. Carolyn's work is also
popular in workforce centers, high schools, government agencies, and the
military.
Carolyn is active in the
Career Development field and was the 2008 President of the National
Employment Counseling Association, a division of the American Counseling
Association, (ACA).
CEO and Publisher
Carolyn is the CEO of her
own company, DreamMaker Publishing, Inc. which publishes her own
materials.
Education
Carolyn earned her BA
degree in Elementary Teaching in 1970 and her MA in Counseling in 1973
from Ohio State University. She taught elementary school
for 2 years in South Central Los Angeles before beginning her 30 year
counseling career at UCLA and El Camino College. She lives in
Southern California with her family.

Carolyn Kalil,
MA, JCTC, is the author of five books and CEO of DreamMaker Publishing
Inc. She is a retired counselor and professor with over 30 years of
experience at UCLA and El Camino College in Southern
California. She was one of the first certified trainers for
the True Colors Personality System and the author of the best selling
book, Follow Your True Colors To The Work You Love. Her updated version of
the book is Follow Your Inner Heroes To The Work You Love.
She is a past president of NECA and currently certifying
professionals in her Inner Heroes program.
